  • Chief Executive Officer/Founder

    Chelle Jones is the founder and chief executive officer of The Break Away summer camp. An American born early childhood educator, with over 6 years of international teaching experience in British, International Baccalaureate (IB) and American curriculums, she holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. She is passionate about community development, education innovation and mentorship.

    Chelle’s educational philosophy is intrinsically personal with diversity and inclusion at the core. In the classroom, she works to foster an environment where students feel safe and supported, enabling them to develop a better expression of their thoughts. A central pillar of her success as a leader of the classroom is her passion for inquiry-based learning. Her lesson plans are designed with individualized scaffolding and inquiry-based strategies to help students achieve milestones while building confidence and independence. Additionally, she utilizes technology as an assistive tool to expose students to the world around them. She takes pride in her aptitude for empowering students to become invested in their communities through class projects and service-learning activities.

    In her life outside of The Break Away she enjoys teaching kindergarten, traveling, reading, and the occasional game of friendly football. Chelle feels that the time for educational reform is now, and that it is imperative that the youth of today have a clear understanding that they are the ones who will lead us into the future.

  • Curriculum Advisor

    Sarah Omar of Sarah’s Consultancy is a South African born educational consultant based in the UAE. She is an international teacher with over 6 years’ experience teaching in British, International Baccalaureate (IB) and American curriculums. She helped with curriculum design and assisted with creating the project-based learning curriculum that will be used during the summer camp. She also conducted teacher training for our camp counselors.

  • Curriculum Advisor

    Fatimah Ahmed a Canadian born educator, based in Qatar, assisted with creating the project-based learning curriculum that will be used during the summer camp. She is an international teacher with over 6 years’ experience teaching in British, International Baccalaureate (IB) and American curriculums.

    Project Manager

    Kwadwo Amoatin has worked in Project and Operations management for over 5 years and is skilled in creating and managing effective projects with companies within the youth development, agriculture and technology sectors.

    Kwadwo is experienced in event planning and programming, account management with experience in managing multiple partners and stakeholders to achieve common goals.

    Kwadwo has been involved with youth development initiatives and volunteer work spanning teaching children with cancer, organizing camps to teach leadership, teamwork and creativity and part-taking in feeding the homeless.

    Kwadwo enjoys playing basketball, hitting the gym and reading.

Goal

To expose children to the power of project-based learning, by having children recognize create innovative solutions to everyday issues faced within the community.

To get the next generation to realize that the solutions are within them.

To develop critical thinking, communication, research, and presentation skills, by giving campers the opportunities and tools to engage with both peers and local community members.
